I have many japanese friends, and they don't have the good feelings to the chinese government,but have the chinese friends and like them. Many chinese students visit japan as an exchange student, and the relationships give Japanese the better understanding about china and chinese.
The point is most of Japanese people do not know the chinese history, and simultaneously chinese people do not the japanese one. Maybe that works for the misunderstanding with each other. The reason is, of course, the education by the public, I think.
